Lagos, Nigeria - August 2026

As stablecoins continue to reshape global payments, conversations are increasingly shifting from adoption to infrastructure. This was a key focus at the Nigeria Stablecoin Summit (NSS) 2026, where regulators, financial institutions, fintech leaders and ecosystem stakeholders gathered to discuss the future of digital assets and cross-border payments in Africa.

During the summit, Kora participated in industry discussions on the evolving payments landscape, sharing insights on the infrastructure needed to support the next phase of stablecoin adoption, cross-border remittances, and the new payment rails powering trade across Africa.

Speaking during the session, Chuckwuma Ukegbu, Global head of sales at Kora highlighted the role of stablecoins in simplifying cross-border payments across Africa.

"With stablecoins acting as the settlement layer between the Nigerian naira and another African currency, the entire flow becomes as quick as sending a text message. Instead of relying on multiple correspondent banking relationships, businesses can move value faster, at a lower cost, and with far greater efficiency."

Building the infrastructure behind adoption

The summit positioned stablecoins are increasingly being adopted for practical financial use cases, including cross-border payments, treasury management and business settlements. As adoption grows, businesses require infrastructure that enables digital assets to move seamlessly between blockchain networks and local financial systems.

Kora continues to build payment infrastructure that enables businesses to collect payments, make payouts and settle funds across multiple African markets through a single integration, supporting both traditional payment methods and emerging settlement technologies.

From adoption to infrastructure

As Africa's digital payments ecosystem continues to evolve, Kora remains committed to building infrastructure that simplifies money movement across the continent while supporting the changing needs of businesses operating globally.
